Off the runway at OFW

Backstage at OFW

Obviously there was a ton to see ON the runway at OFW this past weekend, but what about off the runway?

I was impressed with those of you who decided to strut your stuff.

Here are some of my favourite fashionable attendees!

My partner in crime, Justine. (Fashgasm)

Sid Cratzbarg, looking awesome of course!

James Jefferson of Blackbook Lifestyle rocking some amazing fur

Awesome hat on this guy!

The lovely Jenn Schad

Loren and Julia

That almost concludes it, I had a blast!

Sunday fun day

Here again to give you some details from my Sunday night covering Ottawa Fashion Week for! There were quite a few flavours but I had my eyes on a few things. Saturday night may have been my favourite night, but Sunday was certainly a fun day (for those of us who weren’t hungover from too much champagne, anyway).

We also got to have a little fun with a charity fashion show featuring some celebs walking the runway for UNICEF.

Here are some of my favourites (and some that made me go, HUH?!) from the final evening of OFW. It was certainly something else!

Loft 604

This line wasn’t AMAZING but still classic and cool. Also, those pants are something I would put on my “stuff to buy your boyfriend” list.

Loving the high socks, of course. One of my favourite looks that I could recycle forever.

A Complete stunner from Helmer!

But this is around the time he started to lose us. Confusion sets in!

If you were there, I’m sure you heard the whispers…

A real glassy dress, the music stopped and all we heard was her walk. Luckily, she was amazing.

And our final “wtf” moment…

Absolutely one of my favourites! It made me truly miss my maxis!

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for some street style and my article before the end of the week! Until then, check out all of the outfits from OFW at

Ottawa Fashion Week Roundup cont’d

I consider myself one lucky girl! Attending Ottawa Fashion Week  for was a blast!! Got to hang out with some amazing people in the photography pit and mingle with some of Ottawa’s finest. All while snapping photos of some great fashion! It really doesn’t get much better than that.

I know I gave a pretty quick blurb last night about what I had seen so far, but I have a lot more to say about Friday before moving onto Saturday completely! I may have deemed it the most uninteresting and unfashionable night, but I still want to point out the things I appreciated most!

So from attending this weekend’s shows, it’s pretty obvious what you should be aiming to add to your wardrobe.

Bold colours are back! And in Ottawa, we need a little flare after a long winter wrapped up in dark wool coats. Elena’s Creations had some amazing tones, from royal blue to rich reds, but it wasn’t overpowering. There were also some lighter colours in the mix. Definitely some chic looks that range from simple to sassy.

Animal prints were everywhere, as well as other bold prints, as we saw with Amanda Emmanuel on Friday.

Emmanuel’s designs are definitely wearable for some summer fun if you’re looking for a bold colour palette. Nothing dull came down the runway here! The materials looked amazing, but I’m very picky when it comes to my prints. I can’t see myself rocking all of these pieces, but I would definitely recommend this line to those who have a passion for bold and beautiful prints. A few designs I was fan of were the following:

I could honestly go on about Y!D.N.A. forever…the blackface, the gas-masks-turned-stylish studded face-wear, and the shredded outfits and dark tones… but instead I’ll just post more pictures. Feast your eyes on these!

I’m glad the night ranged, leaving room for something a little heavier.

I was also quite intrigued by frAsh, which brought out some amazing jewellery on angelic like models with feathers on their chests. I felt as though I had been transported back in time to some sort of ancient tribal ritual. Although confused at first, the crowd seemed pleased, and I was too!

The pieces were quite large, including wrist cuffs, heavy chains, and even a stunningly large headpiece. I couldn’t help but wonder how much it must weigh!

More to come!

Ottawa Fashion Week

It begins tomorrow! It’s time to show ’em who’s got style, because I am rather offended that we are constantly ragged on for being “unsexy” and “unfashionable”. Just because the politics happen to go down here doesn’t mean we can’t take a walk on the wild side. I can’t deny that I’ve seen a lot of poorly fitted suits and some rather drab dresses, but I have also seen some of the most inspiring outfits, especially on campus and downtown.

Tonight I’m just trying to decide what I should pull out of my closet for this weekend. If you’ve seen my closet, you know that this will be a difficult task. Too much stuff to sift through! But the snake skin heels will definitely be making an appearance, I’ve been dying for an excuse. Lets just hope I don’t die wearing them.

As for the rest, I think I’ll be rocking some loose fitting dresses, a single feather earring and some light coloured blazers.

Tomorrow night is bound to be amazing but Saturday is the night I am most looking forward to!

Hope to see some of my Ottawa friends there!
