Happiness

So maybe we’re all “so over” music videos. Remember when you used to watch them after school? The countdowns? Oh the excitement we once held so deep in our hearts for MTV and MuchMusic. It’s still there. But for the most part if I want to see a music video I scope it out on youtube. I thoroughly enjoy Deerhunter‘s helicopter. And look! There is a video! I seem to enjoy strange things and images…which this video seems to contain.

Something that I came across the other day was this little treat. I love Panda Bear so much, I can’t really explain. Something about the music seems to make me happy. I could listen all day. Also there is something nostalgic about the sound.

I reccomend you make this full screen while you watch. Anything else you choose to partake in during this experience is your own doing…

Hope you enjoyed it!

Record Store Day!

What are you going to buy today?

I’ve had a few records on my mind that I wouldn’t mind adding to my growing collection.

Decisions, decisions…

I’m sure I’ll run into a few others…sifting through vinyl always gets my blood pumping.

And new music does too! Recent excitement from Panda Bear, and of course there’s plenty of reverb overload. Something I can never get enough of. Now that I think of it, Person Pitch is definitely on my list of potential buys. There’s so much to choose from!

Track one on the new album is currently getting to me. But I’m digging every ounce.

Also, I’m kind of in awe of Tv on the Radio. Blowing my mind since the start. I still remember hearing “Staring at the Sun” and having my heart melt into a puddle on my bedroom floor. I don’t even remember how it happened. But it was beautiful. And I’ve been craving a live show ever since the age of 15. The love goes on. and on. aaaaand on with Nine Types of Light!

I know I should be studying instead of blogging and thinking about what records I’m going to buy later today. But I just CAN’T! My parents are on their way as we speak to come pick up my sister. So…fam-jam Ottawa adventures ahead. Hopefully I get over my sleepy spell…I stayed up late dancing. It seems as though I’m celebrating before my final exam. I guess it feels like it’s over. BUT IT IS NOT! Tuesday afternoon, then release.

Until then, mellow tunes, records, Pub Italia, and…studying I guess. The library has been a good friend as of late. I miss going to coffee shops to relax and read a book. Currently, it includes sipping coffee while staring continuously at a computer screen. Can’t wait to delve into a new summer reading list.

Happy Record Store Day!

Some things you need

The year is coming to a close soon enough. And since my wisdom teeth will be pulled in the coming days I thought I should do some coherent blogging before the year is up. Basically, things I loved about 2010…and things you need, of course.

Since studying must commence I guess this is just part one of a series of things to come. How exciting.

This one’s obvious.

Practically invisible but look a little closer and listen a little closer. Teen Dream captured my heart for some reason. Something about it makes me smile and frown simultaneously. It’s like a look back to the person you were maybe 3 years ago. So it’s not that far off but in a way it still sort of feels like it is. Strange.

More of this, please. Best Coast kind of reminds me of Girls. This is a good thing. Old school feel is always welcome.

I don’t even need to get into the details here. At all. Just pure awesome.

You’ve probably heard this album without even realizing you were hearing it. Just saying.

How could I NOT? I’ve heard mixed thoughts but I enjoy it, even though I really have only given it a few spins. Not too much heavy listening to this because there was so much pouring out of my itunes this year. I’m still trying to sort through all the precious metal. Or vinyl. Or whatever.

Texico Bitches is catchy as hell though.

Yes, please, Caribou. I adore you.

Because you know it’s good. Come on.

Absolutely necessary. I mean completely and utterly. really. Maybe I’m biased though.

I remember listening to Halcyon Digest for the first time. I was stepping out of my front door when it struck me that I had the album on my iPod with the most sincere intention of listening to it but hadn’t. So I thought this journey to school would be a good time to listen. Well I listened to it on my journey to school, my journey home, little trips between where I could sneak buds into my ears. Ignoring the traffic around me. Just pumping this album into my brain non stop for a week. I actually didn’t listen to ANYTHING other than this album for seven days straight. Need I say more? Get this. Now.

Had me at hello.

This is just me warming up. Study break, END.
