The time has come!
I have completed my move into my new apartment and now it is time for a vacation. Well deserved if I do say so myself.

My suitcase is pretty light when traveling to a warmer climate. Bikinis and tanks weigh less.

So I will be hopping on a plane tomorrow morning. Right now I am actually on my way to Toronto! Then I will be surrounded by sun and sand for seven days in the Dominican.

With that said, I am abandoning all technology until my return (except for my iPod…).

I’ll be back.

I think I told you I’m hitting the beach in about a week…yes. Yes I am. Dominican, here we come! This calls for a bikini post. I love bathing suits…I may even purchase a new one for the trip despite the fact that I own a few and need to save money.

Now, let’s start with something simple. I have ground rules when it comes to bathing suits.

1. Say no to the thong bikini.

2. Allow for a bigger triangle to cover those nipples…please.

3. Make sure it fits. If that means swapping between sizes, do it. You don’t need a small size top because you are purchasing a small size bottom. Just accept it.

Now that we have that sorted…onto the bikinis! And other bathing under things…

Basic black, easy and classy. I adore it.

It’s hard to decide sometimes, but I dig cute patterns. The simpler the better. Unless you want a lot of colour.

Also, the standard bikini is no more. There are tons of cool styles I like, but you gotta watch your tan lines.

Of course, if you’re not feeling the two-piece, a cute one piece works. I really love this one:

Now I’m really in the mood for some beach time. Just a few more days.

Until then…two hours of pilates a day. Bikini season is daunting…and fast approaching.

I graduated! And other cool things.

I’m officially done my undergrad, so now I can actually tell you all…I got my BJ. For us j-schoolers, this joke never gets old. So just keep laughing with us.

Now that I am going to be an adult now…I guess I have time for more activities. It’s really strange actually. This morning I was doing pilates and thinking about when I would squeeze in studying before work. Then I remembered, I DON’T HAVE TO STUDY! I can read books for pleasure. I can go for a long bike ride. I can watch tv without feeling guilty. This is great so far. I’ve already started building my reading list. It includes The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones. Any other suggestions? I’d love them all!

And with graduating also comes moving. This is a little bit of nostalgia coming out, don’t mind me. If I remember correctly, I started this blog when I was moving into my current house. Well, now I am leaving it…and moving down the street…don’t laugh. It’s going to be weird not having my walk-in closet any more.

Now where was I?

Oh yea, I was dancing.

I’ve been on a pretty hard 90s kick lately. I think I’m feeling old or something.

Also, I guess I can blog more now. That’s good, because I have a lot to say…as always.

What a wonderful long weekend, but I can’t say I did much resting. Mostly work, working out, and studying of course. Naturally, I am having trouble keeping up with hundreds of pages of notes to go through. Cumulative exams are the worst! So I’ve devised a little plan to keep me motivated, maybe it will work for you too.

My morning started out with a half hour of pilates and about 15 minutes of cardio, and then push ups. I get really excited by the time I’m at cardio and have trouble stopping!

Protein shake follows, and then I immersed myself in the madness.

Of course I get a little restless, so instead of mindlessly surfing the web in between coffees, I decided to try something out. More pilates or cardio! Taking a ten minute break to jump rope with Calvin Harris actually helps, believe it or not. It gets my heart rate up, which is better than getting lazier by the minute staring at a computer screen.

Also, the shorter videos posted by Blogilates are awesome to try out in between readings. I’ve already done a few today, this one was new for me as I hadn’t tried it yet:

Snacks help too, berries and whole wheat toast with honey.

Well, I better get back to studying.

Music note

Just a little something to relive my Wednesday night in Montreal. I went to see Nero at Metropolis and it made me dance a lot! The set-up on stage was unreal, had to see it to believe it!

Here’s a classic. I love the Aaron Carter version, too, of course. Sometimes my boyfriend sings it to me. He’s rather cute.

Mad hatter

It’s that time of year again…when we rake through the newest spring and summer fashions at our local shops and malls. We cringe and swoon, unable to decide what dress best compliments our skin tone.

This was me just yesterday. I was in a picky mood, leaving Montreal with nothing more than two small bags of goodies. Most of this included some hair product and a simple pair of blue flats. I was feeling apathetic about fashion. Like there was no hope for me quite yet. I couldn’t put my finger on it, because as you all know, I had a grand time just a few short weeks ago.

Then I realized, on a day like this…I am good for nothing more than hat shopping. You don’t have to wait for a changing room, and there are loads to choose from! I found my calling on that particular day…and with this new found ideology, I found a great hat!

This is very fitting, since I will be heading down south next month. I need to protect my baby blues, and shades won’t cut it! I happened upon a lovely straw fedora by Calvin Klein. It fades from the brim to the top, a dark blonde shade to an almost bleached shade.

So there you have it…my fashion crisis averted. Just remember…when you’re feeling a bit mad, hit the hat section…or whatever other accessories get you excited.

Feelin’ Fresh

I don’t normally share anything but clothes, food and music. But my revamping of blogs may start to include more health oriented details of my life. I’m surprised I hadn’t done it before, actually.

So here is my routine, as of late. It’s starting to include more cycling with the nice weather! Who needs the gym when you have the great outdoors?!

This is also done when hungover. Suck it up princess. I promise it will make you feel better in the end, no matter how hard the start! Sweating it out is the best part. Also, summer is around the corner. This is coming a bit faster for me (Dominican May 1st woooo!!).

Here it is!

45 minutes of pilates. I suggest checking out Pop Pilates, google it for some awesome (and free!) moves to try out. – this includes abs, thighs, calves, arms and obliques. It’s best to go day by day.

Eg: Monday do lower body, Tuesday do upper body, reverse. The key is to do SOMETHING every day. Even if it’s just 20 minutes.

15 – 30 minutes of jumping rope, depending on what you’re feeling. Also walking at fast-paces throughout the day is good, but jumping rope is the best in my opinion. Within a few minutes you can feel it everywhere – arms, legs and core.

And don’t forget stretching. Avoid screwing up your back, please! Always stretch after your work out.

Protein smoothie. Not kidding. I may get made fun of for having my plastic pop-eyes smoothie cup in class but it’s filling. And I love liquid breakfasts.

Also, this may sound crazy, but doing 30 minutes of pilates in the early morning, and 30 minutes in the afternoon is awesome. Makes you feel great and helps productivity.

Happy Tuesday!
